week 16: you would not believe your eyes if 10 million fireflies lit up the world

sticky note sketch of watching fireflies over the rice fields

こんにちは!!

This week was crazy! We had zone conference so we went back to Fukuoka for a day. It was our last zone conference with President and Sister Egan because next transfer we get out new Mission President. Zone conference was so spiritual and fun! We had so many miracles this week. Lots of funny times and just full of laughs. Last P-day we went to a stationary store to look for a new journal and we were there for a long time because there was so much cute stuff!!! Japan has the cutest stuff! Our investigators are doing great and progressing so much! Megumi San came to church and stayed for all 3 hours! He loves the idea that we are all brothers and sisters! He wants to come back! Amazing right!? We had a shokuji with the Kawanami family and after they took us to see fireflies! So pretty! We had 2 less actives with us too so we started to build that trust with them!

Funny keiken:  Our eternal investigator Isan called us and wanted to go out to lunch. He took us to a really fancy place and we had crab and sushi. He is really hard to understand because he doesn't have any teeth, but he decided I look half Russian and Sister Dimmitt looks half European. Haha!

Spiritual keiken:  So we haven't been able to contact Tanaka San in a while. We got worried she dropped us. But we kept hoping. Nihara Shimai from the ward called on Wednesday and said she had gotten a call from Tanaka San. We got a lot of information and had some hope. On the way home, we looked down the street and who was walking dogs..... TANAKA SAN!! We stopped and talked and got somethings figured out, and it was a miracle!  We texted her the next day and she responded.  We are going to take things slow, but it is happening!

New words:
きれい (kirei): pretty
ほたる(hotaru): firefly
しょくじ(shokuji): meal

I love you all and I know our Heavenly Father loves you even more! You are all amazing!
Love
Thompson Shimai

Bits and pieces from family emails:
Most of my mosquito bites are finally healed up.
The farthest we have gone on our bikes is riding for a solid hour, really fast!
At zone conference we talked about obedience and being united! It was AWESOME!!
The fireflies were beautiful and the light was tiny but the bugs were good which was scary!!
I'm reading all the scriptures in the topical guide under Christ and marking them...it's been so cool!

fireflies are really hard to photograph!

all things cute are in Japan!
