week 5: if it's good, it's Him
Konnichiwa
Wow! The weeks are flying! I've been out over a month and I have a few weeks left before I go to Nihon (Japan)! So this week was full of laughs, and spiritual moments. Gawrys Shimai and I have had a rough time planning for our investigators but half way through the week we finally found a system that works really well for us. Having a companion is hard sometimes, but so much fun! Gawrys Shimai and I are always laughing and having a good time. Today we will get a new district in our zone. It's a week earlier than usual. So that's going to be crazy. I have the best zone! We all get along and we laugh all the time. On Saturday night Gawrys Shimai and Hippolite Shimai took two of the mattresses had a sleepover on the floor. It was way fun! We watched movies, (church movies) and had a little party.
Funny keiken: last night the Shimai tachi (sisters) wanted to take some photos. Lavea Choro and Davis Choro were walking by and so we ran up to them and asked them to take the photos (they thought we were going to ask them to be in the pictures) then at the end of all the photos Lavea Choro says "thanks for using me." and walks off dramatically. It was way funny!
Spiritual keiken: Okay this week was full of them. Gawrys Shimai and I had two lessons that just went perfect. We can't speak the language well, but the spirit made up the difference and we really connected and helped our investigators. It was a needed blessing from the Lord. We have struggled a lot with lessons and the language, and it has kind of killed our confidence, but having the amazing lessons this week gave us hope that we can do it!
Another awesome moment was that Elder M. Russell Ballard came. He was the devotional last night. He did a question and answer session with us. So many great questions were asked. One of the ones that stood out to me was "how do we know how God really feels about us? How do we know if it's Him or us thinking it?" He said, "Relax. If it's good, it is Him." God loves all of us so much but sometimes we get in our head too much so we just need to relax.

Note from my mama:
With it being 5 weeks since Maddy went into the MTC, I was curious to know if she was getting tired of the MTC and the food and the classes. "NOT AT ALL!!" She truly loves learning, not just the language, but she loves studying her scriptures and researching topics. She loves the devotionals every week and the opportunity she has to gain more knowledge of the gospel and of her Savior. Her testimony is being strengthened every day in big and small ways!
