week 43: what size is the font?
p-days at the beach are kind of a thing!
こんにちは、
It's DECEMBER! Crazy! So this week was a bit crazy. We decorated the apartment with Christmas! We ate more gyoza than I can count! And had Taco bell! (Those not in Japan, Taco Bell doesn't exist in Japan except on base). Also, for the world wide day of service we collected books to donate to a charity who will distribute them to people in need. It was really fun! We talked to a lot of the members there and got a lot of books.
Funny keiken: The elders in Naha were preparing to have a baptism, but they didn't have pants the right size. Our church had some, but they called us to find them. So we were at the church and a member walked in. He happened to be in charge of the church building's maintenance. Evangelista Shimai walked up to him and started trying to ask him the size of the font. I was dying! So I explained it was pants we were looking for. Evangelista Shimai was laughing way hard too. We finally found the pants and later, we were telling someone about what had happened with the mix up and we accidentally said パンツ(pantsu) which is underwear! We couldn't stop laughing all day!
Spiritual keiken: So at our English class we have a couple potential people to teach who have become really good friends. One is Sukushi San. We have gone hiking with her and to the aquarium and to lunch. I was talking with her after Eikaiwa and we got on the topic of instruments. Come to find out, she loves organs. I took her over to see our organ in the church. We played around on the organ for a minute. I started playing some Christmas songs. I asked if she knew the song "Grown-up Christmas List" (I recently got a Japanese version). She didn't. So I played it on my tablet and we listened to the song. The spirit was so strong and so powerful! It was really amazing. After the song she said "せつない" which doesn't really have a direct translation (if you look it up is like painful, heart rending, trying... not correct. Its like not sad but emotional... kinda). We then talked about Christ and Christmas...just amazing.
New words
パンツ(pantsu): underwear
ズボン (zubon): pants
せつない(setsunai): (please look above in spiritual keiken for the definition)
I love you all and miss you all so much! I'm so thankful for the chance to serve and the people I meet. I know God loves each of you individually!
Matthew 10:29-31:
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Remember God knows the hairs on your head! You are so important to him, so please dont forget that!
