week 49: strengthening our weak spots

Saturday sports days are all about the sweet babies!

こんにちは

Okay this week was really good. We went to the American village (not like America at all) and passed out tons of flyers for eikaiwa. We gave stacks to stores and made a bunch of eikaiwa videos which we should hopefully be posting soon. Many of the members here in Japan have been doing the church's pathways program and it's awesome! Ryoko is one of those members. She finished pathways and was eligible for the BYU online classes. She was having some problems with her login and stuff. and she needed to talk with a tech support person over chat because she couldn't call. I ended up helping her because the whole conversation was in English. Well long story short, they couldn't help us but eventually I got us in and we found out she was accepted! Yay! So I helped her with the new student info and taught her how to login. It was really cool to help someone with a skill of mine. We also went to a baby shower this week! So cute! They had diaper cakes and they were the cutest things ever! We also finally met with the Garcia family. They are a referral from some other members and they speak spanish (yea I don't remember most all my spanish). But we had a great lesson with them and they are so nice.

Funny keiken:  Okay so Evangelista shimai and I were at the American Village and it was starting to get dark. It is about a 30 minute bike ride from our house, so we were wanted to be productive there and not have to head home yet. We wanted to get in as much work as we could, so we started making videos to promote our eikaiwa class! It was really fun and we had so many bloopers. We laughed a lot and got some un-videos made!

Spiritual keiken:  Maria came to church again! This week I sat by her and she said she had something she wanted to tell me after Sacrament. I was on the edge of my seat. After sacrament meeting she told me that after she gets back from her trip she think she is ready to join the church! I was so excited for her! Later we had a lesson with her and she just kept saying from the moment she met us she knew it was true and that we were the ones she was waiting for. I couldn't stop smiling all the way home. I'm so happy to see her life changing and see her doing what God has asked each of us to do. We don't have a date yet, but we couldn't be happier.

New words:
のべつたえる(nobetsutaeru): to proclaim (ex. The gospel)
りょうかい( ryoukai): roger, comprehension

" True doctrine, understood, changes attitudes and behavior. The study of the [doctrine] of the gospel will improve behavior quicker than a study of behavior will improve behavior.”
—President Boyd K. Packer
The way we study matters. I hope you all are using the new Come Follow Me manual for your studies. It is amazing and as you study it, you will change and your families will change. We can't see what is ahead but we know Satan is working harder to destroy our families and testimonies.  If you aren't sure if you like the church changes yet, try them and I promise you will see how they are strengthening our weak spots so when life gets hard, and Satan is working harder, we won't fall off our foundations and our families will be safe and Satan will have no power over us.

I love you all!

Love,

Bits and pieces from family emails:
Biking is getting a little easier every week...my elbow aches sometimes, but it's doing pretty good.
Two hour church is so short! There isn't nearly enough time to talk to everyone we need to, but I think I'll like it once I have a little less to do on Sundays.
Transfers are next week and I'm really hoping I get to stay in Kadena! I love the people here so much!

New Year's Day was an adventure of epic proportions!
