week 56: transferring but not transferring

Okinawa World!

こんにちは!元気ですか?

So transfer calls.... I'm transferring but not transferring! I will still be in Kadena but I am getting a new companion, Sister Mauldin (not sure if I spelled it right). Sister Jorgensen is also staying in Kadena and getting a new companion. What?! Yep we are going 4 man and I will now be over the Gushikawa military branch and Okinawa ward, hence why i am transferring but not. I will still be in the same apartment (unless Tokyo comes through and gives us permission to move--which we need to because our apartment has no space for more people). So that is going to be new. Also Jorgensen Shimai and I are still kinda comps because we are STL comps!
Okay this week not as much happened. I was sick for a few days with 100+ fever so i was in bed for a few days (mostly... I still went to appointments and meetings). Monday was Okinawa World and it was a blast. Huge tourist trap but fun! Then Tuesday we had our last district council and had a German feast that Minami Chan made for us. Thursday we taught Kimura and Nina and Ryoko shimai and went to a baby shower! Friday I was super sick but we ate Mexican food and I rested a bunch. Saturday we got up early and went to the Okinawa peace park. It's a memorial park for the battle of Okinawa in WW2. We went there with members and missionaries. Sunday we had district conference and a dinner and lesson with Nina and the bishop's family.

Funny keiken: So on Saturday, Nishihara Choro drove us to the Peace Park and on the way he saw a sign for a buffet at Okinawa world. He asked if any of us had been and we had, but not to the buffet. After the peace park activity we saw another sign and he was like "let's go!" So we did Okinawa world twice in one week. We laughed about it a bunch.

Spiritual keiken:  We had the peace park thing and there we said a prayer for Okinawa and the missionary work. It was really amazing to see how much faith Okinawan people have. It's been a way good week. We had district conference and it was really good to learn about finding joy in the gospel.

New words:
しょうがない(shouganai): can't be helped
このごろ(konogoro):now a days

I love you all so much!

Love,
Thompson 姉妹

I will still be in the same Japanese ward....just my branch changes.
I am finally feeling more like a real person...biked 30 minutes to the church today...go me!
Several of our investigators are at a crossroads. They are struggling with the desire to want to know if the gospel is true. They are afraid to get an answer because that means then they will have to act. So pray for their desires to change, and for them to really want to know the truth.
I am SO HAPPY to be staying on Okinawa with so many people that I love!

it's weird, but when I'm sick, I want Mexican food!
These nachos were soooo good...even with my 100 degree fever...haha!

the Peace Park was exactly what I had hoped,
a peaceful place of prayer and reflection.
