week 59: reaching our potential

Back at the mission home and temple for MLC last week!

こんにちは!

This week was good. We went up to camp Hansen (a marine base) and had family home evening up there. Then on Tuesday we had district meeting and the Cowleys brought lunch. Wednesday we had another lesson with Sunny (the Catholic priest) and then had a dinner with the Wake family.  They had super amazing nice friends come and the message we shared was amazing. The spirit was so strong during it. On Thursday, we went to the church to participate in the YSA sports day. Later I taught Eikaiwa.  Friday Mauldin Shimai`s health wasn't doing great so we took a day off and only left the apartment for a dinner appointment. Then Saturday we went to the missionary sports day that was at the park. We had some fun and Nina (my old investigator (now the other sisters teach)) and Tsukushi (Futenma friend) showed up. Way fun!! We got some udon and then headed home to help with her health. Sunday we had church and were there forever. We had a dinner with the Anderson Family who's sister-in-law's sister is Katie Kindred (my old young women's president) so we are basically family! They gave us really good tacos and we got to sit in their family home evening.

Spiritual keiken: So I read my patriarchal blessing and learned a lot this week. I was able to not only see my potential as a missionary but as a person. I was really grateful that I had the chance to come here to help me reach my potential. I have had lots of questions in life of why me? But when I look back I see that everything that happens is just helping me reach my potential. If you have your patriarchal blessing, this week you should get it out and read about who you can become and then make a plan and goals for how to do it.

Funny keiken:  Okay so we went to the YSA activity not really knowing what to expect. We got there late but it was right when they were getting ready for the volleyball tournament. So we walked in and they were like せんきょうしteam (Missionary team)! So they had 4 teams and one was us and the elders. We played and ended up winning the tournament!  It was super funny because we all were awful! But it was so fun to get into it!!

New words:
にどずけ(nidozuke):double dipping
きんけつ(kinketsu):running out of money

I love you all so much! I love everyday in the field. Everyday I learn to be more Christlike and more about Him.

Love,
Sister Thompson

Bits and pieces from family emails/phone calls:
We are working hard to try and find new investigators. Switching to a different military branch didn't leave us anyone to teach, so we are praying this week to find someone new!
Please also pray for my sweet companion that her health will improve.
We taught about eternal families to the Wake's this week...such an amazing lesson!
