week 69: tofu cake anyone?

こんにちは!HELLO Family and Friends

Okay this week we had a crazy fast one. Tuesday after P-day we had Eikaiwa. We were a little low on numbers this week. Then Wednesday we had our Japanese class and went to meet Yoshikawa san. He called us out of the blue and wanted to come to our english class. So yay! That night we went to outreach (a munch and mingle thing) with Okinaga san. Then we went to Hikari to spend the night. Thursday was transfers so we got to stay with Vaitaki Shimai all day until her new comp came, so we had some fun...lots of laughing! Then Friday we did some MLC planning and went to dinner with two old men who we met in the park. They are way sweet and one is our new investigator. Saturday was crazy! We went and baked cakes and dropped them off at returning members and potential investigators houses. Then we had a lesson with Yanagida san at McDonald's. Sunday we had church and Murotani Kyoudai was reactivated!

Funny keiken: We attempted to make Tofu cake. Now when I was a bean my trainer made it and it was amazing. So we tried and our rice cooker doesn't have a cake setting so we tried just the normal setting for rice.... well it was cooked and underdone at the same time. But we tried it and wasn't too bad...Definitely on our next attempt we will cook it longer!

Spiritual keiken : There is so much hope in the Plan of Salvation. So we were teaching our cute old men and we mentioned that we can see our loved ones again. Soda San was so touched that he could be with his wife again. Honestly watching people receive hope that they thought was lost is the most amazing thing.

New words:
めんぼう(menbou): cotton swab
へいおん (Heion): tranquility,  peace

I love you all! I love Japan!

Love,
Thompson Shimai

Transfer day! Lots of goodbyes and a few hellos!

Playing some badminton at the church!

Garlic bread...this is important because it isn't burned!
Almost every time we make garlic bread at home,
we turn the oven to broil for the last couple minutes,
and we forget, and burn the bread!
I have skills!!

Flip phones are where it's at!

The elders had a baptism a couple of weeks ago
and we got to go be a part of that special day.

this is the Fukuoka temple that we saw at our last MLC training

We all love riding the bullet train!

Hiroshima at night is so beautiful.
