week 4: ups and downs

Image
Konnichiwa! Man the week has passed so fast here. Everyday flies by. This week was the same schedule. It's fun with the snow, all the international missionaries love it and get so excited! We taught our investigator, Higashimuki San (he is one of our teachers that we practice teaching with). It was awesome though! Our Nihongo (Japanese) is improving a ton. It's hard to see it at first, but after a while you can see the improvement! Funny keiken: two good ones this week.  1. Gawrys Shimai and I were walking and she started to slip. She said "I'm going to fall" and a few seconds later she was on the ground laughing! Some sweet Chorotachi (elders) slid up to help. 2. One night Hippolite Shimai was watching old videos we made and someone was laughing. Rasmussen Shimai said "man I have an ugly laugh." Hippolite Shimai looked over and said " that was me laughing!" We all couldn't stop laughing. It was super funny. Spiritual ke...

week 3: kohai no more

In the MTC, we have nicknames depending on how long we've been at the mtc learning Japanese. Kohai: weeks 1-3 Senpai: weeks 4-6 Dai Senpai: weeks 7-9 Konnichiwa!  This week has had some ups and downs. It's crazy to think I have been here for 3 weeks. The time flies by. This week was really hard with Japanese. I felt like I wasn't getting it as much, but I know that the Lord is helping me everyday. My dai senpai (the group 6 weeks ahead of me) left. It was so sad because I grew really close to a lot of them. They were so kind and I know they will have amazing missions. The last night before they left, we all went to bed way late because we were taking pictures and we ended up having a snowball fight. It was super fun! Later today we get our kohai (new group). It's going to be so fun being more experienced and getting to help the kohai feel loved and welcome. Funny keiken (experience): We had TRC (teaching resource center) where we basically we ...

This is Elder Zac Meyer. We have lived kiddie-corner from each other for the past 14 years. We received our calls just weeks apart, and entered the MTC within two weeks of eachother. He will be going to the Cebu, Philippines mission!

week 2: a mighty woman

Thompson, Gawrys, and Hippolite Shimais after an early morning temple session! Konnichiwa!! This week went by so fast. I couldn't believe it. So we had lots of lessons and 2 new investigators. (Ishikawa San and higashimuki san) they are our teachers playing their old investigators. The lessons went really good for not knowing a ton of Japanese. The lessons are really stressful to plan for but so helpful. Japanese is coming a lot. I'm not great but I am happy with my progress. It snowed for a little bit one day. It was so fun to watch everyone who has never seen snow. They were all so cute and excited. Hippolite Shimai ( a room mate) is from New Zealand and it was so cute watching her see it snow. She was so excited and in awe. I was really grateful for growing up in Utah and seeing it snow before. It was one of the most magical days because of it. There has been so much happiness in the MTC. Everyone is happy and it just spreads like wildfire here. Gawrys ...
