week 2: a mighty woman

Thompson, Gawrys, and Hippolite Shimais after an early morning temple session!

Konnichiwa!!
This week went by so fast. I couldn't believe it. So we had lots of lessons and 2 new investigators. (Ishikawa San and higashimuki san) they are our teachers playing their old investigators. The lessons went really good for not knowing a ton of Japanese. The lessons are really stressful to plan for but so helpful. Japanese is coming a lot. I'm not great but I am happy with my progress.

It snowed for a little bit one day. It was so fun to watch everyone who has never seen snow. They were all so cute and excited. Hippolite Shimai ( a room mate) is from New Zealand and it was so cute watching her see it snow. She was so excited and in awe. I was really grateful for growing up in Utah and seeing it snow before. It was one of the most magical days because of it.

There has been so much happiness in the MTC. Everyone is happy and it just spreads like wildfire here. Gawrys Shimai ( my companion) and I are getting along great. It is a process but it is worth the outcome. Parrack Shimai (in my district) was sick one day and I helped switch her companion out so they could eat. Lots of people are sick but everyone is ready to help.

My district is so funny, we are always laughing and making jokes. Lavea Choro is our district leader. He was trying to write secret on the board in japanese. It's
ひみつ  he wrote ひmiつ because he couldnt remeber the hiragana. It was really funny.

Spiritual moment: In class we were studying 2 Samuel 23:11-12. This is about one of the mighty men of king David's reign. The mighty men were the best of the best, loyal, fearless and just amazing. Verses 11 and 12 talk about one of them that stood his ground during an attack. My teacher had us think of when we have stood our ground and fought for our standards. It was an amazing lesson.

I love you all and miss you a ton. I know I'm here to serve the Lord and I plan on doing everything I can to be a mighty man (woman).

Word of the week : ひみつ (himitsu): secret

Love,
Thompson Shimai

3 packages in one day! Feeling so loved!

My uncle Mike sent me Japanese candy...fried chicken candy is not my favorite. The first piece is okay, but the next one isn't so great. The aftertaste is weird!

Sophia and I worked together in the daycare at UVU.
So fun to run into her!

Parrock Shimai and I sampling all the Japanese treats!

So much love for my companion...she keeps me laughing every day!

My mom's Aunt Lana and Uncle Dean gave me this stone before I left on my mission.
It is a Petoskey Stone and is the state stone of Michigan.
As the stone is rubbed and touched, it's true colors and beauty show through.
It never looks the same again.
This is a symbol of how we, as missionaries, will change and become our truest selves throughout our missions. Not only will our own lives change, but so will the lives of those we teach and love.
"we all are the work of thy hands" Isaiah 64:8
