week 19: and you thought spoons were for eating ice cream!
I love you all!
こんにちは
Lots of fun cool experiences this week. We had lots of laughter and fun! We biked crazy far! (Yes I have actual bike muscles now). This week we went and saw the Kurume castle ruins and had a nice relaxing P-day. We also got to go to Sasebo for district meeting. The train ride is over 2 hrs to get there. Lots of studying on the train. For eikaiwa this week we added a Book of Mormon reading class. We read the Book of Mormon after Eikaiwa and it was cool and hard. A lot of our students stayed for it though! Yay! We had 2 senpai days which were really hard, and this week is senpai week, so I'm senior companion all week (hopefully I don't die). We met a ton of Christians this week and talked about Christ with them. We also tried less active phone dendoing and met some nice people. We had stake conference on Sunday and I have a funny story with that!
Spiritual keiken: We meet a mom who we introduced the Book of Mormon to! We shared with her 1 Nephi 3:7 and testified that through trusting God you can do anything! She started to get emotional, and she told us that she wanted to give something like this to her daughter, who I guess she isn't on good terms with. We testified of the power of the Book of Mormon for families, and were able to give her a Book of Mormon! So cool!
(Warning a little sad) So we did less active phone dendoing and called this one less active (Less active means they are a member but haven't been to church in a while). We started talking and found out she felt she wasn't treated right when she came to church. She is fluent in English and said she felt like she was just a translator. It was really sad, because she said she knows the church is true but she doesn't want anything to do with it because of how the members treated her.
We as members need to have love and kindness to each other. We need to help people and our leaders in their callings because we never want them to feel like the church is a burden instead of the blessing it is.
Funny keiken: We were biking down the street and we saw this old man on his bike and every time someone passed him he would ring his bell.... as we got closer we noticed he was ringing his bell with a spoon! So funny!
So we had stake conference on Sunday. There was some miscommunication and we went to Fukuoka for the conference. We got there and realized that it was being broadcast to other buildings including our home building! So we went to Fukuoka by mistake. We had a good laugh about and on the way home got to help some people!
