week 40: the magical button
on top of Okinawa on the ferris wheel!
こんにちは!私は元気ですよ!今週本当に素晴らしいです!
Okay this week flew! So Monday was my birthday and we went to a place called American Village. It was fun!! It had "American" stuff.... I don't know how much of it is really American, but it was something exciting and different! We rode the ferris wheel and had an amazing lunch. Later that night, we had FHE and I got sung to with cake from the YSA kids. Tuesday, we had district meetings and later we went and helped out at mission prep. We were investigators for the future missionaries. It was really fun! We also met a lot of members who are currently not going to church, so that was good. Wednesday, we heart attacked the elder's door. They have been super nice and for Evangelista Shimai's and my birthdays, they gave us treats, so we returned the kindness. Thursday, we met with Tamahara San. Okay now, she is so kinjin! She asked lots of questions and it ended up leading into all of the first 3 lessons (don't worry, we will go back and teach her them one by one) but it was crazy awesome! And she would take what we told her and relate it back to herself. It was so cool. We also had eikaiwa. It went well and we had lots of people there. Friday we went on base. Why?? Because the marines were having a marines birthday party thing. We went with the elders and the Whites and watched the presentation. After, we had an amazing lunch! I'm talking about steak and lobster! Then we ran to DCS and later had a lesson with Iha San. Saturday, we went to set up the font early. Four of the military branch kids were getting BAPTIZED! Yay! Then later that night we had a member lesson with the Shimabukuro family. Their daughter got back this week from her mission! She served in the Hawaii visitors center mission. Amazing! We talked to her a lot and it was really fun! Sunday we had a lesson with Kizumi San and it went really well. She is super nice and amazing!
Funny keiken : Okay, the first one is with Iha San. A few weeks ago he read my palm and told me I wasn't going to get married. But he did it again and now I will get married and have 2 kids! So little by little, I'm getting there. And last time he said Evangelista Shimai would get married and have 3 kids. This time he said she would have a divorce and have 4 kids. So good change for me, and not so much for her. He also at one point stopped and just looked at me. Then he pointed at me and said daisuki. That's like love! He said he loved me! I was so happy to be loved by a little old Japanese man...haha!
The other funny one...Well that last baptism we had for one of the military branch kids, no one knew how to turn on the hot water so it was a bit (really) cold. So this time the elders, Evangelista Shimai and I got up early to boil water to make the font a little warmer. So Evangelista Shimai and I were dumping water into the font and one of the Japanese bishopric members came in. He asked us what we were doing and we explained. He kinda laughed and said, "you press this button for hot water". He then pressed this magical button and the water turned hot.... I died it was so easy! We laughed so hard!! But the good news is the water was warm for the baptism.
Spiritual keiken: Okay so Tamahara San had an amazing lesson. At the end of our lesson, we asked her to pray. She began to pray and tears just flowed from her eyes. She had to stop praying for a moment to grab tissues. At the end she said, "I don't know why I'm crying, it's not sad". Then we were able to testify to her that that feeling she felt was the Holy Ghost. It was one of the most amazing experiences to see her feel the love of our Heavenly Father so strong.
New words:
ひまん(Himan): obesity
けっぱく(keppaku): innocent, purity
へいし(heishi) : soldier
I love you all and miss you all. I know that Heavenly Father is there and loves you. I know that through prayer we become closer to Him. I hope you are doing well! Love you!
