week 44: capture the flag champions!
BEST game of capture the flag ever played on Okinawa!
こんにちは!
So this week we got way sad news! They are closing the Futenma sisters area! So we have been busy packing and cleaning the apartment. It has been way sad. But sister Evangelista and I came in together so we leave together! I am transfering to Kadena ..... and sister Evangelista is going with me! Companions again! White washing again! (We are changing the area from elders to sisters) and we are way excited. It's another Military branch! Our last week in Futenma was honestly amazing and hard. Last p-day we had a double zone P-day! We played capture the flag and I have the best Zone! We won! (Don't know how but we did). It was fun to see everyone for a whole day. We started making Christmas cards for the returning members (less actives) in our ward. It's getting pretty windy here. The wind is what makes Okinawa colder but its still nothing compared to Utah's cold winters. On Saturday, the church in Okinawa put on a production of Handel's Messiah. It was really good and we met a lot of non-members and saw most all the missionaries in Okinawa again! Later that night we also got our closing call...so sad. Sunday was hard saying goodbye to everyone. But a bunch of people want to feed us so we are set for meals the next while.
Spiritual keiken: Okay, I love how the spirit often gives us multiple chances to make the right choice. On Tuesday, it was off and on raining all day, but by night it was pretty okay...barely sprinkling. One of our friends one year anniversary was on Tuesday, so we decided we wanted to surprise her with a cake. On the way to the cake shop we were passing lots of people. There was this little obachan (grandma) with no umbrella. It wasn't raining, so we keep walking and a few steps later I got the "go back" feeling. I pushed it off thinking "its not raining". Two more steps and I got it again and I knew it was a prompting. So I stopped and told Evangelista Shimai we needed to go back. She was confused. We went back to the obachan and I covered her with my umbrella. She started telling me she was okay and saying it wasn't raining. I told her its okay, and 30 seconds later it starts to pour (like not Utah rain but literal bucket size rain drops). We walked her almost all the way to her house when around the corner came her husband with 2 umbrellas. Cutest thing of my life! He stayed and thanked us a lot for taking care of his wife. I was so thankful the spirit gave me another chance to do the right thing before that cute obachan was soaked.
Funny keiken: So at eikaiwa we didn't have a lot of people come and not a lot could stay after. It ended up being Yoshi and Shima Kyoudai and Taiki. We were all talking when the elders and Taiki got out boxing stuff and practiced. It was pretty entertaining. Well, a little later, I put on some gloves and gave it a try. Well turns out, I'm pretty good and I'm more of a lefty. Taiki said I was the most jouzu, or skilled. I had a really good body hit. It was way fun! Sister Evangelista tried too and she also tried being the person calling the hits. It was a fun last eikaiwa for sure!
New words:
じょうず (jouzu): skilled, talented
すずめ(suzume): sparrow
なかいい(nakaii): on good terms, close, relationship is good
I know this is God's plan and He is watching each of us. I'm thankful for the time I've had here in Futenma and for the people and members I've met. I'm excited and scared and all the emotions to go to Kadena. It will be a blast! I know this church is true and that President Nelson is a true prophet. If you haven't seen the Christmas devotional, I highly suggest it!

Bits and pieces from family emails:
My foot is still not awesome...I'm gonna have to go see a doctor when we get to our new area so I can get some real inserts and hopefully get it feeling better. I'm hoping to be back on a bike in January!
Pizza here is expensive and strange! One of the most common kinds has corn on it...needless to say, we don't eat pizza here!
We are transferring to the Okinawa ward because they really felt like sisters were needed there, so I'm excited to see what happens there! I'm still in the same zone, just 45 minutes away.
For the last 2 transfers I have been joking about washing Kadena to shimais and that is exactly what we are doing!
