week 45: what color is in your jar?

whitewashing to Kadena and couldn't be happier!

こんにちは

This week we moved areas! Just 30ish minutes by car, but we now have a new area, new apartment, new ward, new branch, and new miracles!  So new area, Kadena, has some hills and some flatter areas There is about triple the Americans, and lots of new things. The new apartment is really nice! It's on the 4th floor and we live minutes away from our ward mission leader, but we're a 10-15 minute bus ride away from church (still no biking). New ward, new branch! We have the best ward and the best branch they are all so kind and helpful! Yes, I'm in in another military branch too! We are so excited to be here! Miracles! Too many to count!

Funny keiken:  Okay so last p-day we found out we were transferring. We have 2 eikaiwa students who are so kind and so sweet. They took us out for dinner. We went to one soba place but it was closed only on Tuesdays! So they drove us around more and we ended up in the American village which is in the Kadena area. So we were just getting a look at our new area and Christmas Land! It was way fun and we really had a fun time walking around the American village especially all decorated for Christmas.

Spiritual keiken:  So in our area we have 4 people being baptized on Christmas Eve!!! Three are from our area. They are the Webb family. The mom and dad got married last month, and the dad is a returning member.  He is awesome! The mom is Japanese and so are her 2 daughters. We met them Sunday and helped teach them a lesson before the baptismal interview. They all are amazing! We got to help them figure out clothes and set up an appointment for this week. We are so excited! Elder Wannabe was one of their original missionaries and he is still here just in a different area, so he gets to be there and baptize them.

New words:
つかう(Tsukau): to use
べんり(benri): convenient, useful

Okinawa ward is a really special place and I can feel the miracles that are just waiting for us. I have seen God work so many miracles.  Sometimes its hard to see the miracle, but if you look for positives, you will find it. Tatoeba (example): you have a jar and in the jar are a lot of black marbles  (disappointments, sadness, hard things). You look at this jar and point out every black marble. Then you decide to try to and be positive. So every time you are positive, you take out a black marble and change it for a white marble. Over time, the black marbles are gone. Not that those things don't happen, but the way you look at those things changes. Being positive makes it so you don't have as many, should of's, could of's, and would of's. Try to find the positive in every situation. I love you all!

Bits and pieces from family emails:
The apartment is so nice...smaller than our last one, but really nice! Sadly, the church is a bus ride since I still can't ride a bike...just waiting until January!
I know all of the elders in our area (they share the Japanese ward with us!). My zone leaders stayed the same!
English class was a little awkward..no one talks in this class! We're gonna have to change that!
My foot is almost 100% better..prayers were answered and hopefully now it stays that way until I can bike again.

so many goodbyes to so many people I love!
