こんにちは!
Okay so transfers! And crazy fun. Tuesday
and Wednesday was a lot of packing and saying goodbye. I got to see Sister
Anderton and say goodbye and that was so fun. It was so hard to say goodbye. On
Thursday, Sister Jorgensen and I left Okinawa. It was way sad to say goodbye,
especially to the couples. I will miss them. We got on an airplane and flew to
Fukuoka. At the airport the APs met us
and took us to Hakata station. I got on a bus with a lot of missionaries to go
to Hiroshima. It was a fun ride! Elder
Palu was there and Elder Stock...I haven't seen them in a while. I sat by Sister Nagao, she is a super sweet
japanese sister. We talk on the way and I realized I'm way rusty with my
Japanese. We got to Hikari and I met Sister Berg! SHE IS SO CUTE! We went to Takasu
and literally talked the whole time. We are already best friends!!! Friday we
met Okinaga San. He is a bit of an eternal investigator, and we ate Hiroshima
okonomiyaki (Hiroshima is famous for it) So yummy! Saturday we taught a private
kids class and did some MLC planning. Sunday we had church and the members here
are awesome! It was way cool. We also taught Okinaga San and the lesson was way
powerful! Also, for those who know me, you know that I don't love to work out
that much and running is a きらいこと
(disliked thing) but sister Berg is inspiring and we are working out like crazy
so far...like I can't feel my legs but its okay. And I ran one day so far...So
be impressed! I'm going get way more in shape!
Funny keiken:
Okay everyday I'm laughing so much with Sister Berg. She is so funny!! So
I don't have a one solid moment/story yet besides laughing at myself making
lots of mess ups between English and Japanese.
One other moment...Before I left Okinawa, we met with a cute family with
little kids and one of the little boys started crying because the rice had
cilantro in it and that was pretty funny. #Carter 😉
Spiritual
keiken: I was so sad to leave
Okinawa. I didn't understand why either.
I felt like I was just getting the hang of things and was about to have a bunch
of miracles happen. But God has a plan. He knows what he is doing. So, my first
day in Takasu I felt more like a missionary than I have in a while. Okinawa was
a vacation kind of feel. I worked hard and it was fun, but it was also easier.
We got referrals often and we spoke mostly English. Being in Takasu has felt
more like the beginning of my mission (not quite understanding what is going on
feel(but less)). I have felt the spirit so much more because I'm relying on the
Lord more. It's like when Nephi breaks his bow. (Sister Thompson's thought) it
broke because they were relying too much on their strength and the bow, instead
of relying on their Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father could have protected the
bow, but they needed to be reminded that all they had and did was because of
Him. I've had a similar experience...I relied on English and members more than
God some days. So getting thrown into this new area I realized if I want to
work like I did in Okinawa, I have to rely on Heavenly Father first.
New words:
くわずぎらい(kuwasugirai):
disliking certain foods without trying it
へんぼう(henbou):
transfiguration
I love you all! I miss you so much! I can't
wait to see the abs I get from laughing so hard this transfer! See you all
later!
Love,
Thompson 姉妹
Bits and pieces from family phone call:
Sister Berg is next door neighbors with my mom's cousin who lives in Heber. We were instant best friends, and I'm SO EXCITED for the next few weeks with her!!
Takasu is very nostalgic...when you think of Japan, this is the place you picture.
I am literally just SO HAPPY!!!
heading to the airport with the Cowleys
bye bye to our cute little apartment
love these sweet people!
I will miss them dearly!
